[Seminar] Designing and optimizing waste incineration systems with Simcenter STAR-CCM+
Energy conversion efficiency, flue gas treatment and operating imported technology: how CFD supports the design, improvement and localization of waste-to-energy plants.
Vietnam generates almost 60,000 tonnes of waste a day, and more than 70% goes to landfill. Waste-to-energy is a comprehensive answer, but most projects rely on imported technology with little local content, which raises three engineering challenges:
- Energy conversion efficiency is low and depends on how consistent the incoming waste is.
- Flue gas treatment must handle dioxins, furans, NOx and SOx.
- Maintenance and operation of imported equipment.
The seminar shows how Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is used to improve incinerator, heat recovery and dust and flue gas treatment designs, shorten the time to solve engineering problems, and help engineers localize the technology.
